About UVa Student & Alumni Email
In 2008, ITC began partnering with private vendors Google and Microsoft to provide student email. Students may choose to have a University email account with UVa Gmail and/or UVa Microsoft Live; alumni may choose to have a University email account with UVa Gmail.
Benefits Provided by UVa-Contracted Email Vendors
- Complete Communication Packages: Both Google and Microsoft offer a suite of online communication tools in addition to email, including integrated instant messaging (IM), online document sharing, calendaring, Web publishing tools, and more.
- Modern, Sophisticated Email: The user interfaces for both UVa Gmail and UVa Microsoft Live are modern and user-friendly, and students and alumni have large storage space allotments.
- UVa Email for Life: Students retain their UVa email address and account for life, and upon leaving the University, their messages and folders are preserved.
