Step 1: Configure your iPhone/iPod Touch to Connect to the UVa Exchange Service.
Connecting to the UVa Exchange Service Via ActiveSync
Note: This type of configuration will allow you to auto-synch your Exchange calendar and contacts.
- Ensure you have an account on the UVa Exchange Service.
- On your computer: Then, request that ActiveSync be enabled for this account. To do this:
- Go to the Eservices Management Website and log in through NetBadge.
- Click Account Management, then Exchange tools.
- Click Activate Exchange for a Mobile Device or Smartphone.
- Click the Mobile Activation button.
- Then, on your iPhone or iPod Touch: From the Home screen, tap Settings, then Mail, Contacts, Calendars, then tap Add Account.
- On the Add Account screen, tap Microsoft Exchange. The account configuration screen appears.
- In the specified fields:
- In the Email: field, type your UVa Exchange Service email address, in the form:
your UVa computing ID@eservices.virginia.edu. For example: mst3k@eservices.virginia.edu - In the Domain: field, type eservices.
- In the User Name: field, type your UVa computing ID (e.g., mst3k).
- In the Password: field, type your Eservices/UVa Exchange Service password.
- Note: The password for your Exchange account is the same as your Eservices password. If you do not know this password, (re)set it now.
- In the Description: field, type a name to help you identify this account or leave the default text in place. Tap Next.
- In the Server: field, type mail.eservices.virginia.edu. Tap Next again.
- In the Email: field, type your UVa Exchange Service email address, in the form:
- Turn on which content to synch: Mail, Contacts, and/or Calendars.
- Note: If you choose to synch your calendar and contacts, any existing calendar and contact information on the device will be overwritten. Additionally, iTunes will no longer synch contacts and calendars with your computer.
- When you’re finished, tap Done.
- The device immediately offers to synch with the Exchange server. You may be required to set a passcode in compliance with the Exchange ActiveSync policy. If the current passcode for your device does not meet policy requirements, the device will not synch with the server until the passcode is changed.
Note: To change synch settings later, go to Settings, then Mail, Contacts, Calendars, then Your Exchange Account, and select the options for synching Calendar, Contacts, and Mail.
