Action Request System 3.0 Windows User Tool Documentation Customization Considerations

Before you customize Windows User Tool HTML documentation, check with your AR System administrator to ensure that a version of this documentation customized for your site is not already mounted on a server to which you have access. If you plan on customizing Action Request System Windows User Tool HTML documentation, keep the following in mind:

  1. We recommend you add a subdirectory to store your customizations outside of the directory in which you installed the HTML files. This directory should be separate from your AR System install directory, to prevent overwrites of your customized topics. Make sure that the directory you create has the same system permissions as the default HTML documentation directory.

  2. Write all of your extensions to Windows User Tool documentation into HTML files contained in the new directory, and edit the exiting AR System documentation files to incorporate the necessary links.

  3. Modify the uwintoc.htm file in the default HTML documentation directory to include all the specific links to your new documentation. We recommend you move your modified uwintoc.htm file out of the <ar_install_dir>/html/ directory if you plan to overwrite the directory with a new installation of ARWeb, then put your modified uwintoc.htm back after the re-installation.
